THe Etymology, or rather the Variety of words, comprehends and shows all kinds of variation, which are in words.

How many kinds of words are there?

All words may be divided into sixe several sorts, namely into Particles, called Ledekens, Nounes, Namen or Naem-woorden, Pronounes, Voor-namen, Verbes, Werck-woorden, Particles, Deel-woorden, Adverbes, Help-woorden, which denomination is given to words, that one may speake distinctly of each of them, as the same hapneth in the difference of Wares, Tooles, Instruments, Coines, and Weights.

Note, that these sixe kinde of words are declinable in their terminations, except the Adverbs, which for the most part are indeclinable, whereof wee will speake more at large in there due places.

Of the Particles called in Netherdutch Ledekens.

The Words or Particles de, het, and een, the, ende a, are called Ledekens, because they inseparably depend on those things whereof we speake; as being asked, Wat is dat? What is that? the answere will be, Een mensch, Een man, A man, Een boom, A tree, Een beest, A beast; in this questions the Particle Een , A ofte An, cannot be omitted, for you must not say, het is mensch, het is man, het is boom, het is beest. But of this wee will speake more at large in the Syntaxie.
