(1934)– [tijdschrift] Levende Talen–Mayor.In verband met de opmerkingen van den Heer Kruisinga in een critiek in het vorig nummer zijn de volgende citaten, die voor de zooveelste maal bewijzen dat het pad van den criticus met doornen is bezaaid, waard hier af te drukken. ‘A mayor is now in England the official head of a municipal gonernment .... His term of office is one year, but he is eligible for re-election .... The English method of selecting a mayor by the council is followed for the corresponding functionaries in France .... Direct appointment by the central government exists in Belgium, Holland ....’ (The Encyclopaedia Britannica, IIth Ed.).
